BOJACK SPP5 Hard Start Air Conditioner Relay or Capacitor Kit

The SPP5 is designed for permanent split capacitor single-phase air conditioning and heat pump systems. Starting capacitors are used in refrigeration compressors, heat pumps, and other heavy-duty and frequently-started motors to provide 300% starting torque.

If your new or old compressor won't start, try installing this hard-start capacitor before doing anything else. Starting an air conditioner or heat pump compressor (reciprocating and scroll) requires an extra electrical "shock" to start. Equipment requiring hard-start capacitors includes heat pump or condenser split systems with (TXV) installed, and old heat pumps or condensers that are mechanically stuck and not working.

Installation Notes: The two-wire hard-start kit is connected in parallel with the run capacitor for Permanently Split Capacitor (PSC) type compressors, and connects to the start and run terminals on the compressor for Capacitor Start Induction Run (CSIR) type compressors. A third connection to the common wire is not required.

Notice: Check the model number on the compressor (printed on the nameplate on the side of the compressor) to determine the tonnage of the unit. 6000BTU=0.5 tons, 12000BTU=1 ton, 18000BTU=1.5 tons, and so on.

The SPP5 compressor hard start boost capacitor can save compressor aging by increasing compressor starting torque by 300%. It is available for a variety of air conditioner compressors from 4,000 BTU window units to 120,000 BTU commercial units.

The motor starting capacitor and the PTC thermistor are connected in series, with no loose parts and complicated wiring. The "piggyback" 2-wire terminal wiring is adopted, making it easy to install on the running capacitor.
